In 2016 OWL Heavy Lift was founded with the mission to make the logistics supply chain of offshore wind turbine maintenance more efficient both operationally and financially within the ever-changing market conditions. OWL Heavy Lift supplies services focused on both fixed and floating turbines.

CEO Maarten van der Giessen (1981) has more than 10 years of experience in shipping, including a position as commercial manager for the floating cranes of SMIT and Boskalis. Maarten has gained his expertise on works such as Baltic 2 OWF jacket installation, the construction of the Izmit Bay Bridge in Turkey as well as various integrations of FPSO’s in Brazil.

CTO Piet Jan van der Giessen (1975) has over 15 years of experience with Fleet Management, including a position as Fleet Manager at Boskalis. Piet Jan managed offshore vessels such as cable layers, Dive Support Vessels, Stone dumping vessels and floating cranes, including ‘Bokalift 1’.

CFO Minne Meijer (1961) has more than 25 years of experience as CFO at various shipowners and ship management companies. As CFO of Hanzevast shipping, Minne financed, built and managed five sea tugs for Fairmount Marine (now part of Boskalis).

COO Jeroen Mooij (1975) has more than 25 years of experience in shipping and held positions as captain of floating cranes, offshore project manager and salvage master. As salvage master, Jeroen is responsible for highly complex and high exposure projects, for instance for the salvage of the ore carrier ‘Stellar Banner’ off the coast of Brazil.
